Citizens with arrests in the past week were largely unemployed, according to records. And Canyon Country residents received a pretty large cut of the arrests. For instance, a 21-year-old Canyon Country man who works in food service was arrested for attempted robbery. An 18-year-old homeless telemarketer was arrested for burglary. A 30-year-old construction worker from Newhall was arrested for grand theft of money/property exceeding $400. An unemployed 42-year-old female transient was picked up for theft of personal property last week, as well as a 21-year-old Watsonville man.
And, on the receiving end, an unemployed Burbank man and a concrete finisher from Northridge were charged with receiving known stolen property exceeding $400 in value.
A 28-year-old unemployed Valencia man and a 20-year-old Saugus man were charged with battery on police/emergency personnel without injury. And a 33-year-old Newhall musician was charged with threatening school officials/police/employees.
A 33-year-old warehouse worker from Newhall was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with a firearm, while a 21-year-old unemployed Canyon Country man was charged with assault with a deadly weapon, not a firearm, with great bodily injury.
Two out-of-towners – a 34-year-old mechanic from Long Beach and a 32-year-old construction worker from Westminster – were arrested for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon/addict, etc. And a 37-year-old Canyon Country man who works in inventory control was arrested for battery against a former spouse.
A 46-year-old driver from Saugus was arrested for vandalism with loss valued at or greater than $400.
Two locals plus several out-of-towners targeted Santa Clarita for delivery of marijuana. Two 21-year-old men from Newhall, one who works in construction and one who is unemployed, were booked on suspicion of transporting/selling/furnishing marijuana. Two students from Los Angeles – a construction worker from Fresno and a farm worker from Orange Cove, Calif. – had the same charges brought against them.
Perhaps that’s where all the locals who were cited for possession got their supplies, including a 25-year-old unemployed Canyon Country man who was picked up for possession of concentrated cannabis, and a 19-year-old Canyon Country man whose occupation was listed as “twelfth grader.†A 48-year-old electrician and a 21-year-old mason from Canyon Country were picked up for possession of a controlled substance. Also, a 21-year-old secretary from Canyon Country and a 21-year-old Santa Clarita woman were charged with possession, as were a 46-year-old self-employed Saugus woman, a 20-year-old unemployed Canyon Country man and a 26-year-old unemployed Saugus man. A 24-year-old unemployed Canyon Country man was charged with possession of marijuana while driving.
