This week’s Dui arrests cited people from all over the place. One driver was a glazer from Bullhead City, and another man was a fence installer from Palmdale. Others included:

22-year-old Valencia deli clerk
21-year-old woman who is a server in Lancaster

One of our regular types of indictments goes to residents in possession of a controlled substance. Some of the suspects from this last week were: an 18-year-ld Saugus student; a 41-year-old unemployed woman from Canyon Country; a 33-year-old homeless administrative assistant; and a 27-year-old carpet cleaner from Newhall.

There were a few instances of theft of personal property by a
32-year-old surgical technician from Canyon Country.

Corporal injury on a spouse/cohabitant charges went to a
19-year-old unemployed Palmdale man.

In the more or less unusual category, there was a 26-year-old forger who works as a Canyon Country waitress. Then a 23-year-old Woodland Hills business developer refused to present his driver’s license to an officer.

And in a more shocking alleged offense, local sheriffs arrested a 62-year-old man for possessing obscene material depicting a minor. He is a petroleum worker from Porterville, Calif.

A 34-year-old Canyon Country mechanic allegedly took a vehicle without owner’s consent.

And a charge of acquiring an access card in 6+ names went to a
21-year-old mortgage broker in Canyon Country.

Then there was a charge of escaping/attempting to escape from a police officer, which was brought against a 29-year-old unemployed Arleta woman.

There was quite a bit of stealing last week in the Santa Clarita Valley. There were charges of burglary, attempted burglary, robbery, theft of personal property and receiving known stolen property.

A 25-year-old unemployed Canyon Country man was picked up for attempted burglary. And several suspects from a number of different areas were charged with burglary: a 24-year-old unemployed Pacoima woman; a 43-year-old transient from Stevenson Ranch; a 44-year-old construction worker from Canyon Country; a 31-year-old unemployed Newhall man; a 18-year-old Newhall cashier; a 38-year-old Newhall man.

A 30-year-old Santa Clarita plumber was charged with robbery. Also, a 25-year-old Canyon Country man and a 22-year-old Northridge woman, both unemployed, were charged with theft of personal property. A 27-year-old Los Angeles man who works in recycling was charged with receiving known stolen property exceeding $400.

Two of the suspects charged with corporal injury on a spouse/cohabitant refused to give their occupations. They were a 39-year-old Saugus man and a 43-year-old Valencia man. There were two brokers, one from Valencia and one from Calabasas, also charged with corporal injury on a spouse/cohabitant.

A 55-year-old unemployed Valencia man was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, not a firearm.

Liquor related charges, such as “drunk/drugs with alcohol” went out to a 35-year-old Vegas dancer, a 39-year-old Canyon Country woman, a 45-year-old salesman from Saugus, a 55-year-old unemployed woman from Mar Vista, and a 39-year-old Kansas City woman.

A 21-year-old San Fernando man received a DUI with injury charge.

It is just a brief update this week…
There was a collision at 1:30 a.m. last Thursday, August 19 on McBean near Avenida Navarre. A vehicle traveling northbound on McBean Pkwy lost control and collided with the median. The car ran into two trees.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to a 9-1-1 call from a passerby who said a mother had accidentally locked her 18-month-old child in her car. The deputies unlocked the vehicle and the child was found to be safe.
A man allegedly threatened a fellow passenger on the northbound Metrolink train last week. He was charged with two felony counts.

Much of the time we find that someone from outside the SCV comes into town and gets picked up for transporting/selling a controlled substance. This week there was actually someone from out of the country. A 33-year-old electrician from Guadalajara, Mexico was arrested in addition to a 30-year-old horse rider from Albany, Calif.

Arrests were made for simply possessing a controlled substance also. Some of those arrested were: a 46-year-old mechanic from Castaic; a 20-year-old intern from Valencia; a 34-year-old Saugus man; and a 28-year-old golf pro from Santa Clarita.

A couple of other out-of-towners ended up on our police blotter. A 41-year-old realtor from Three Rivers, Calif. was picked up for carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle. And a charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon/addict, etc. went to a 36-year-old man from Moriarty, Calif.

There were a variety of thefts in the past week. An unemployed 45-year-old woman from Castaic and a 21-year-old Canyon Country man were picked up for theft of personal property. A 42-year-old house cleaner was charged with petty theft and had a prior theft charge. A 22-year-old Valencia man was arrested for grand theft, and a 20-year-old Canyon Country cashier was charged with obtaining money by false pretenses.

There didn’t seem to be as many violent crimes reported this week. Although a 40-year-old Valencia woman was arrested for corporal injury on a spouse/cohabitant.

It is probably a sign of the times, but quite a few unemployed men and women showed up on our police blotter in the last week, picked up in a range of offenses. Two men were charged with robbery – an 18-year-old man from Castaic and a 19-year-old Canyon Country man.

A 25-year-old cook from Newhall allegedly received known stolen property. A man and a woman, both 20-year-olds from Lancaster, were charged with burglary last week. A 38-year-old unemployed Newhall woman was charged with burglary also.

As for petty theft, a 33-year-old heating/air conditioning worker from North Hollywood was arrested, and had prior arrests. A 39-year-old childcare worker from Sylmar was charged with theft from a vehicle. And, speaking of vehicles, a Castaic childcare owner was arrested for driving with a suspended license.

Two electricians were allegedly involved in car-related offenses. An electrician from Oxnard was arrested for reckless driving, and there was a carjacking here in the SCV last week, allegedly by a Valencia electrician.

A 33-year-old engineer from Canyon Country and a 29-year-old unemployed man from Valencia were both charged with being drunk, involving drugs and alcohol.

There were various charges of possession. One allegedly involved a 29-year-old engineer from Canyon Country. A 23-year-old Castaic massage therapist was cited for possession of a controlled narcotic. And two people were arrested for possession of a controlled substance for sale – a 29-year-old unemployed man from Canyon Country and a 29-year-old self-proclaimed “junker” from Lancaster.

Criminal threats
A 22-year-old Acton artist was charged with making criminal threats, as was a 46-year-old construction worker from Santa Clarita. A 37-year-old machine operator from Newhall was arrested for battery against a former spouse.

There were a few unusual charges last week also. A 41-year-old pastor from Canyon Country was charged with corporal injury on a spouse/cohabitant, etc. A 28-year-old Bakersfield man who works in security was arrested for forgery. A 21-year-old unemployed Canyon Country man was arrested for carrying a concealed dirk or dagger. And a 30-year-old unemployed Valencia woman was charged with stalking.

There were quite a few assault and battery/corporal injury charges this week in the SCV.
A 22-year-old cook from Newhall was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, not a firearm, with great bodily injury, and an unemployed, 36-year-old Newhall man was charged with assault likely to produce great bodily injury. A 24-year-old Canyon Country man was charged with battery against a former spouse. And there were several arrests for corporal injury on a spouse/cohabitant:

As always, there are the unusual arrests for the week. A man whose occupation is recorded as “driver” was cited for being an unlicensed driver. A nurse was charged with driving with a license that was suspended or revoked for another reason. A 35-year-old, unemployed Canyon Country man was charged with a sex registration violation. Two people on separate occasions were charged with battery of a police officer or emergency personnel without injury. One was a Canyon Country woman and the other was a medical consultant from Saugus. A self-employed, 52-year-old Sylmar man was charged with conspiracy to commit a crime. A Valencia homemaker was charged with a hit and run with property damage. A Saugus woman was charged with cruelty to a child likely to produce GBI/death. A disabled Canyon Country man was picked up for a bench warrant that had been issued for him.
Two men were picked up for violating parole – a Valencia plumber and an unemployed Santa Clarita man.
A 43-year-old pet sitter from Altadena and an unemployed 20-year-old man from San Fernando were charged with possession of concentrated cannabis. Several individuals were arrested for possession of a controlled substance. They included a 24-year-old construction worker from Newhall; a 32-year-old gardener from Sun Valley; an unemployed, 18-year-old Santa Clarita man; a 19-year-old salesman from Northridge; a 22-year-old unemployed Saugus man; and a 28-year-old unemployed Canyon Country woman. Also, a Valencia handyman and an unemployed Saugus man were arrested for possession of a device/instrument/paraphernalia.
Some burglaries occurred in the last week, including three Canyon Country residents. There was a 52-year-old unemployed female and a 20-year-old laborer, both from Canyon Country. And two homeless individuals were arrested – a 32-year-old Sylmar man and a 34-year-old Canyon Country woman. There was an attempted burglary charge brought against an unemployed, 23-year-old Canyon Country man.

Three field laborers from Newhall were arrested last week for three different offenses. One was charged with possession of a controlled substance, one got a DUI and the third was cited for possessing an open container in a motor vehicle.

A 25-year-old Saugus waiter was charged with carrying a concealed dirk or dagger.

A 42-year-old Acton man was charged with operating a vessel under the influence of drugs/liquor.

A 21-year-old woman allegedly made criminal threats.

A 42-year-old nail tech from Stevenson Ranch was charged with corporal injury on a spouse/cohabitant, etc.

Three women were charged with theft of personal property – a 23-year-old and 22-year-old from Newhall and a 23-year-old from Canyon Country.

The men normally outpace the women in criminal arrests, but in the last week a particularly large number of those cited were males. Women were more often picked up for stealing than for other offenses.

Vandalism charges went to a 21-year-old background actor, male, from Lancaster and a 19-year-old Hollywood man.

A 45-year-old contractor from Lake Hughes was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon with a firearm; and a 36-year-old Newhall woman was picked up for assault with a deadly weapon, not a firearm.

Arrests last week for corporal injury on a spouse/cohabitant went to a 36-year-old male house cleaner from Val Verde, a 22-year-old unemployed Canyon Country man, and a woman from Castaic who works as a teacher.

Burglary charges went to a 19-year-old unemployed Valencia woman and also an unemployed 28-year-old woman from Porter Ranch. A 36-year-old Canyon Country truck driver was picked up for grand theft. And theft of personal property charges went to a 19-year-old unemployed woman from North Hollywood, a 32-year-old unemployed West Covina woman and a 32-year-old Canyon Country woman.

A 26-year-old Saugus machinist allegedly received known stolen property exceeding $400 in value, and a 20-year-old unemployed woman from Little Rock was charged with petty theft.

Three men allegedly came to the SCV from Whittier, Norwalk and Oceanside, respectively, to sell marijuana to our residents. They were arrested for transporting/selling/furnishing marijuana.

There were a number of arrests for possession of a controlled substance. Some of those included two Newhall men, one 20 and one 27; a 52-year-old Castaic man; a 37-year-old female accountant from Torrance; and a 25-year-old Canyon Country man who works in retail.

A 19-year-old male student from Canyon Country was picked up for possession of concentrated cannabis. A 19-year-old cashier from Las Vegas was cited for possible phencyclidine/designated substance for sale.

And two more related arrests occurred for unlawfully planting/cultivating marijuana. One went to a 37-year-old man from Fullerton and the other to a 34-year-old man from Anaheim. Both of them reported their occupation as “marijuana cultivator.”

Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over
The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station conducted a DUI/Driver’s License checkpoint last weekend, one of many that have been or will be conducted throughout the year in Santa Clarita. The location of the checkpoint was Newhall Avenue near Carl Court.

The aim of DUI Checkpoints is to deter and remove alcohol and drug impaired drivers, and to heighten awareness of the dangers of driving under the influence. The SCV Sheriffs received the following results at the checkpoint:

[1000] Vehicles were screened
[3] Drivers were given field sobriety tests
[8] Unlicensed and/or suspended/revoked drivers were sent to court
[14] Drivers were cited and sent to court for various Vehicle Code violations

“Over the course of the past five years, DUI collisions have claimed 5 lives and resulted in 228 injuries from crashes harming 323 of our friends and neighbors,” said Sergeant Cohen. “If everyone planned ahead for a sober, non-drinking designated drivers these numbers could be lowered to Zero.”

Those arrested and convicted for DUI can expect jail time, vehicle storage or impound fees, license suspension, fines, fees, DUI classes, and insurance rates will increase and other expenses that can push the cost of an arrest to over $10,000.

Two out-of-towners were arrested for grand theft of money/property greater than $400. One is a driver from Long Beach and the other is an unemployed 50-year-old from Compton. And a 34-year-old Santa Clarita woman was charged with vandalism with a loss valued at or equal to $400.

A Saugus homemaker and a factory worker were charged with burglary. And two different people were arrested for indecent exposure/illegal entry of an occupied dwelling. They are a 46-year-old transient and a 20-year-old Stevenson Ranch woman.

Three men were arrested for assault with a deadly weapon/not a firearm. One is a 21-year-old student from Castaic, also an unemployed 44-year-old Canyon Country man, and an 18-year-old Newhall man. A 41-year-old Long Beach man was charged with violation of parole.

A 48-year-old female from Canyon Country was arrested for corporal injury on a spouse/cohabitant/etc. Charges of battery against a former spouse went to a 44-year-old Castaic man and a 24-year-old Valencia man.

An 18-year-old Valencia man was arrested for attempted rape by use of drugs/intoxicants.

In two different arrests, a couple of entertainment industry employees had brushes with the law. A Saugus stage builder, male, 19, was arrested for possession/purchase of a controlled substance for sale, and a 29-year-old set painter was charged with corporal injury on a spouse/cohabitant.

Also arrested for corporal injury on a spouse/cohabitant was a 22-year-old Valencia man. A 28-year-old Los Angeles man was charged with battery on a non-cohabitating former spouse. Charges of battery against a former spouse were brought against a 44-year-old Valencia underwriter and a 36-year-old nurse from Valencia.

In the theft department, a furniture builder from Saugus, age 36, was arrested for theft of personal property, as was a 30-year-old Valencia student and a 58-year-old retired Canyon Country man. A 53-year-old unemployed Valencia woman was charged with burglary.

A 27-year-old unemployed Bakersfield man was charged with the transport/sale/furnishing of marijuana. A 48-year-old Canyon Country carpenter was charged with manufacturing/selling/giving/lending/possessing leaded cane, etc (weapons).

There were several driving related charges brought. A 23-year-old tattoo artist and a 30-year-old musician from Los Angeles were both charged with driving with a suspended/revoked license.

A few of last week’s arrests fell into the category of ironic or slightly unusual. They included the arrest of a bartender for a DUI, while other DUIs went to a 29-year-old therapist, a 21-year-old secretary from Newhall and a 38-year-old plumber.

A medical assistant from Saugus, age 33, was arrested for forgery/counterfeit of a public/corporate seal. A 61-year-old Winnetka woman was charged with preparing false documentary evidence. And a 28-year-old unemployed Newhall man was charged with false personation with special circumstances.

Santa Clarita had its share of out-of-towners charged with crimes over the last week. Two women from Granada Hills were arrested for getting the credit/ID of another person. One woman, a receptionist, is 25, and the other woman, an insurance agent, is 46. Two men from Turlock allegedly came to Santa Clarita to transport and sell controlled substances, and two men were busted for selling marijuana. They were both 30-year-olds, one a car salesman from Sacramento and the other a smog technician from Rio Linda.

There was a fair amount of stealing in the area in the last week. A 32-year-old unemployed woman from Lancaster was busted for burglary and burglary charges were brought against a 23-year-old unemployed Agua Dulce man. A 40-year-old Saugus woman was arrested for theft of personal property.

Two incidents involved Valencia men who allegedly got physical. A 48-year-old man was charged with battery against a former spouse and a 25-year-old man was arrested for assault on a public officer.

Some of last week’s arrests were on the unusual side. An 18-year-old female was arrested for possession of obscene material involving a minor. A Valencia resident was charged with prostitution with prior knowledge of AIDS. A 32-year-old man from Reseda was charged with indecent exposure and illegal entry of an occupied dwelling. A 44-year-old Canyon Country man was charged with a hit and run causing property damage. Also, in three separate incidents, a 43-year-old Newhall woman, a 38-year-old Sylmar man and a 32-year-old Newhall man were charged with assault with a deadly weapon, not a firearm.

Two different 34-year-old women were charged with burglary. One woman lives in Stevenson Ranch and the other suspect is a woman from Saugus who performs in-home care. Also, a 43-year-old Canyon Country woman who works in packaging was arrested for burglary. An engineer from Palmdale, 18, was charged with burglary. And a store manager from Saugus was booked on charges of theft of personal property. A 22-year-old female store manager from Saugus and an 18-year-old man from Castaic were both charged with theft of personal property.

A 22-year-old construction worker from Valencia was charged with vandalism with loss valued as equal to or greater than $400.

A Castaic man, 26, and a 27-year-old woman from Palmdale were arrested for battery against a former spouse.

Two 22-year-olds from Canyon Country were arrested for possession of a controlled substance. One man is a computer tech and the other man is a baker. Also, a 56-year-old day laborer was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.

A 26-year-old bartender from Valencia and a tattoo artist from Saugus were arrested for driving under the influence, and a bank manager from Stevenson Ranch received a DUI. A 33-year-old woman who works in massage was arrested for driving with a license suspended /revoked for another reason.
Some recent charges were a bit unusual. A 20-year-old Long Beach woman, who works as a sales associate, was charged with possession of a deadly weapon by a prisoner. A 42-year-old woman from Valencia was charged with cruelty to a child likely to produce death. A 22-year-old man from Canyon Country who works in security was charged with failure to appear after a written promise. A 52-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman from a Canyon Country address were arrested for corporal injury on a spouse/cohabitant. An 18-year-old male student from Valencia was arrested for public/corporate forgery/counterfeiting.

The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station conducted a DUI/Driver’s License checkpoint on May 25, 2012 from 1800 to 0200 hours as part of the city of Santa Clarita’s commitment to traffic safety. This checkpoint was one of many that have been or will be conducted throughout the year in Santa Clarita. The location of Friday’s checkpoint was on Whites Canyon Road near Delight Street.

DUI Checkpoints along with regularly scheduled high visibility DUI enforcement serves as a proven deterrent with the goal of removing alcohol and drug impaired drivers and heightening awareness of the dangers of driving under the influence.

[990] Vehicles were screened.
[4] Drivers were given field sobriety tests.
[1] Driver was arrested for being DUI.
[5] Unlicensed and/or suspended/revoked drivers were sent to court.
[11] Drivers were cited and sent to court for various Vehicle Code violations.

“Over the course of the past five years, DUI collisions have claimed 5 lives and resulted in 228 injuries from crashes, harming 323 of our friends and neighbors,” said Sergeant Cohen. “If everyone planned ahead with a sober, non-drinking designated driver, these numbers could be lowered to zero.

Those arrested and convicted for DUI can expect jail time, vehicle storage or impound fees, license suspension, fines, fees, DUI classes, higher insurance rates and other expenses that can push the cost of an arrest to over $10,000; not to mention, the embarrassment it causes around family, friends and co-workers.

The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station’s next DUI/Driver’s License Checkpoint is tentatively set for June 4, 2012. A rather wide variety of locals were charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance in the last week:
A 28-year-old Valencia resident in investor relations; a 38-year-old unemployed female from Valencia; a 32-year-old unemployed Canyon Country man; a 23-year-old Newhall man who works in retail; a 67-year-old woman from Canyon Country; and a 33-year-old makeup artist from Saugus.

An 18-year-old female student from Valencia was charged with possession of concentrated cannabis and a 19-year-old man from Valencia, a student, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance without a prescription.

An unemployed 24-year-old Newhall man and a 25-yr-old man from Newhall who works as a cleaner were both charged with possession of marijuana for sale. But much of the transport of contraband substances seemed to come from out of town. A 22-year-old female student from L.A. and a 30-year-old man from Carlsbad were both busted for transporting/selling/furnishing marijuana. Two Fresno men, a 31-year-old farmer and a 36-year-old construction worker, were also picked up for transporting/selling/furnishing marijuana.

There was the usual variety of suspects in the DUI department. This week arrests included an attorney from Valencia, a carpenter from Stevenson Ranch, and a 46-year-old hair stylist from Simi.

There were quite a few recorded arrests for stealing/burglary this weeka: a 19-year-old unemployed Saugus man; an 18-year-old Saugus man who is a student; a 43-year-old Saugus plumber and a 43-year-old unemployed man from Canyon Country. A few teenaged alleged offenders were out-of-towners: an unemployed Adelanto, Calif. man, age 18, and a 19-year-old female from North Hills were charged with burglary.

A 52-year-old Saugus construction worker was cited for grand theft of money or property exceeding $400, and the next day a 29-year-old Lancaster woman was picked up for receiving known stolen property exceeding $400. A 43-year-old roofer from Newhall also got picked up for receiving known stolen property exceeding $400 last week.

There were also two 19-year-old Canyon Country men picked up for grand theft auto/horse, etc.

Some of the police bookings were for more aggressive, violent charges. A 23-yr-old Newhall gardener and a 22-year-old Canyon Country woman were charged with corporal injury on a spouse/cohabitant. Both a 52-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman from the same Winnetka residence were arrested in Santa Clarita for corporal injury on a spouse/cohabitant. Also, an 18-yr-old unemployed Saugus man, a 31-year-old businessman and a 30-year-old unemployed Canyon Country woman were charged with battery on a non-cohabitating former spouse.
A self-employed 62-year-old man and a 50-year-old woman from Santa Clarita were both charged with the harm/death of an elder or dependent adult.

Some of this week’s more unusual charges included criminal threats allegedly made by a 33-year-old unemployed Canyon Country man. Also, a 21-yr-old male from Valencia who works in sales was arrested for acquiring an access card in 4+ names within 12 months.

An unemployed 40-year-old male from Newhall was charged with vandalism. A 19-year-old man from Newhall was cited with possession of nitrous oxide. Finally, a 22-year-old Valencia resident who is a security guard was picked up for disturbing the peace.

As usual, there were some unusual police citations issued in the past week. A 21-year-old college student from Canyon Country was arrested for possession of a knife at a college/university. There is no word which college was the scene of the suspected crime. Other students were booked last week for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and having records with prior arrests. Suspects included a 24-year-old Santa Clarita resident and a 23-year-old man from Canyon Country. Residents from outside of Santa Clarita accounted for many of the DUI citations, and some of the drivers had fairly high profile occupations. On Saturday and Sunday, the sheriff’s department booked a lawyer from Chatsworth, a field engineer from Bakersfield, an investigator from Palmdale and an accountant from Lancaster. Other DUIs included a 51-year-old Newhall man and a 20-year-old laborer from Castaic. A Stevenson Ranch couple were both charged with corporal injury of a spouse/cohabitant Monday. He is an unemployed 25-year-old and she is a 23-year-old homemaker. It was a rough weekend for the food service industry. A chef, two cooks and a dishwasher were all arrested on Saturday and Sunday. The chef, a 29-year-old Valencia man, and a 24-year-old cook from Sylmar were cited for possession of a narcotic/controlled substance. The other cook, a 46-year-old Newhall man, received a DUI. The dishwasher was a 21-year-old man from Canyon Country, arrested for obstruction/resisting an executive officer. Some of last week’s suspects held jobs that made it easier to explain their charges. A 41-year-old warehouser and a 30-year-old man who works as a mover were both charged with burglary, and an unemployed Saugus man was charged with grand theft.

Last week there were visits from out-of-towners, but they apparently weren’t sightseeing. Two men from Oxnard allegedly came to our valley to sell marijuana, according to the police log on April 11. One was a 28-year-old who works in sound and lighting, and his partner was an unemployed 36-year-old man.
Three more men from outside the SCV were arrested last week, all for conspiracy to commit a crime. Suspects were a doctor from Studio City, age 45, a 52-year-old construction worker from Reseda and a 19-year-old student from Northridge. They were all released due to insufficient grounds for the complaint. We had a fugitive from justice in the area last week also. A 22-year-old male transient was picked up by local sheriffs on Saturday.

Some of the locals who were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol with prior arrests included a graphic designer from Canyon Country, a 40-year-old aviation tech from Saugus, a 32-year-old woman from Newhall, and a hair stylist from Canyon Country.Two nurses last week received DUI citations also. One was a feamal from Orange, Calif. and the other arrest was a Canyon Country man.

According to Santa Clarita Sheriffs Department Booking Logs from the last week, there were a number of visitors to Santa Clarita who were charged with crimes, from stealing another’s credit/ID. Here are some of the community’s arrests:

In the middle of last week…
Two Newhall 18-year-olds committed forgery—one boy (a student) and one girl (a clerk).

A 48-year-old massage therapist was booked in the SCV station for prostitution with prior knowledge of AIDS. She is a resident of Monterey Park.

A 29-year-old female apartment manager from Newhall was charged with battery on a non-cohabitating former spouse.
Four people were charged with receiving known stolen property equal to or greater than $400. One was from Sylmar, one from San Fernando and two from Canyon Country.

Last Sunday, Santa Clarita authorities arrested five residents of Northern California who were charged with stealing the ID/credit of residents of the SCV. A 21-year-old woman from Berkeley, along with two men and two women from Oakland, all over 30 years old, are the suspects. Three are unemployed, one is a student and the other is a music installer.
