For residents who see food as an art form, this weekend’s exhibit at The ARTree will have a certain appeal. “Food Memories: an art exhibit by Six” opens with a reception on Friday, March 23 from 6-10 p.m. The artist seeks to communicate taste, smell and texture of food through a creative display, which the public can also experience on Saturday, March 24 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday, March 25 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
There is a Specialty Potluck from 12 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday and a Cooking Demonstration on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. “Shawn’s Sauce School” is Sunday’s demo with Shawn G and is free, with limited space. Guests will be able to attend on a first come, first served basis and will “learn the four basic sauces every chef needs to know.” Those include: marinara, barbeque, béchamel (cheese sauce) and a dressing.
Shawn G is a restaurant chef who has worked with instructors from Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts and Michelin star chefs, such as his grandma.
The ARTree Studio 2 is located at 22508 6th Street in Newhall. For more information, call 818-720-3446.
