The Santa Clarita Artists Association is welcoming the public to “Cowboy Heart & Soul,” an art reception on Friday, March 9, 2018 at the SCAA gallery from 5-8 p.m. Guests can enjoy wine, appetizers, and music, as well as a chance to meet artists. This event is free to the public. The exhibit runs Friday to Sunday, from March 9 to April 29.
John Bergstrom, who writes and performs ballads about people and events of the west, will entertain at the event. Bergstrom’ s fifth CD, Day Break Moon, was released in July. He calls it a musical wedding: some things old, some new, a couple borrowed and a little bit of blues. Fans have been quoted as saying, “You can almost smell the campfire” during one of his shows.
Bergstrom comes from a lifelong enjoyment of music; his father was a musician who played his last show at age 93. Born and raised in Southern California, he retired from teaching high school history to full-time music in 2009. Bergstrom and his wife, Diane, were honored with the 2014 OutWest Spirit Award in recognition of their support of western culture.
SCAA gallery is located at 22508 6th St. in Newhall, just off Main St., beside the public parking lot near the Canyon Theatre Guild. For more information, call 661-244-7689 or visit SantaClaritaArtists.org.
