GO Jazz Brings Sounds of Basie, Beatles to Community

| Community | April 20, 2017

The GO Jazz Big Band will prove to be masters of more than just hits from the ‘40s with an upcoming concert in Stevenson Ranch. The public is invited to hear the group’s sounds at the West Ranch High School Performing Arts Theater on Sunday, April 23 at 3:00 p.m.

Basie, the Beatles & Beyond is the name of this season’s performance, where the large ensemble will play favorites such as “Hoss’ Flat and Fancy Pants” and “Can’t Buy Me Love.” The music group, which is made up of mostly professionals, will also explore the mysterious outer limits of “beyond,” with tunes ranging from Bobby Darin to Björk.

The GO Jazz Big Band performs in the tradition of the Buddy Rich Band and the Tonight Show Orchestra, with an eye toward the future of Big Band music. Blazing horns and a strong rhythm section is complete with the professional vocal music of Steve Lively.

The box office opens at 2:00 p.m. and doors open at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are sold at the door and cost $10 for general admission and $5 for seniors. Students of all ages are free.
