The City of Santa Clarita is proud to announce that Grammy Award-winning saxophonist Kevin Garren of Valencia will perform the national anthem at the Santa Clarita Marathon, presented by Parkway Motorcars, on Saturday, Nov. 2, and Sunday, Nov. 3, 2019. Garren, who is a running enthusiast and member of the Santa Clarita Runners club, will also participate in the event as a competitor in the Half Marathon on Sunday.

Garren’s professional career has spanned over two decades, and he has lent his talents to countless worldwide performances, records, films, television shows and commercials. He has worked with such notables as Bob Dylan, Michael Buble, Lauryn Hill and Jennifer Lopez, as well as Jazz icons Michael Brecker, SuperSax and Arturo Sandoval. Garren has performed with the Grammy Award-winning Gordon Goodwin’s Big Phat Band, which is a Los Angeles-based big band comprised of the region’s finest studio musicians. He has also made appearances on television in the bands of “Dancing with the Stars” and “The X-Factor.”

In addition to his busy performing career, Garren serves as the Director of Product Development at D’Addario Woodwinds, a business unit of D’Addario & Co., which is the world’s largest musical instrument accessory manufacturer. Garren and his wife, Cindi, reside in Valencia with their Labrador, Astro.
