I’m proud to support Julie Olsen for the Saugus Board of Trustees – Saugus needs Julie!

Julie is the only candidate in the race who has demonstrated unwavering commitment to our schools, as a PTA leader and member on numerous district committees such as the Bond Oversight Committee, and the Communications Committee. She is the Helmers Site Council President, in her second term – even her opponent voted to elect her to that position.

I know families in the district have turned to Julie for help to navigate the local school system when they’ve encountered challenges and needed help, and Julie has done an excellent job getting the right people involved and following up to ensure a solution was found. She played a key role, along with others, to rally parents to demand the resignation of a past board member that acted inappropriately; he was ultimately removed from office. She cares about all Saugus families and her actions prove it.

Julie is an expert in the learning field with 25 years of experience in curriculum development, teaching courses and leading training organizations. She knows California’s education code, current research in learning, and best practices.

Julie’s opponent quit halfway through his term on the Castaic school board, and more recently quit halfway through his term on the Helmers Site Council – after voters had entrusted these positions to him.

Julie, on the other hand, has been the most dedicated parent and district volunteer it has been my pleasure to know. I can think of no one else in this district that should be a voice on our school board to help us make important decisions. If the Saugus District – Trustee Area 3 is on your ballot, please vote for Julie Olsen. You won’t be disappointed in her leadership.
