Wings Over Camarillo Donates $2,650 to the Ventura County Fire Department Widows and Orphans Assistance Fund
As our community faced incredible challenges recently due to wildfires, the 2018 Wings Over Camarillo Air Show (WOC) was dedicated to the firefighters who so bravely fought for us. The theme of the event was a “Tribute to Firefighters.”
As part of the tribute, WOC sold limited edition patches as a fundraiser. All net proceeds from patch sales were directed to the Ventura County Fire Department Widows, Orphans & Assistance Fund, a 501 (3) (c) non-profit organization dedicated to helping families of firefighters and fire department employees facing serious crisis.
On July 1, 2019, WOC presented a check for $2,650 to Randy Gilbert, Vice President of the Ventura County Fire Department Widows, Orphans & Assistance Fund, who is also he Firefighter Paramedic Crew Chief for the Ventura County Air Unit. According to Gilbert, the assistance fund has seen a substantial need for funds over the past two years and this donation has been greatly appreciated.
For more information on the non-profit and to contribute to the fund, please visit their website at http://vcfdwoaf.org/. Also, a limited quantity of patches are still available for $10 at the CAF Museum at Camarillo Airport (https://www.cafsocal.com/).
Wings Over Camarillo is hosted by Camarillo Wings Association, a 501(c)(3), all volunteer non-profit corporation in collaboration with the Commemorative Air Force (CAF) SoCal Wing, Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Chapter 723, Ventura County Ninety-Nines and Ventura County Department of Airports.
