Zonta Club of Santa Clarita Valley is hosting its free Life Forward workshop on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2019. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Valencia United Methodist Church, 25718 McBean Parkway, Santa Clarita. Workshop participants will learn to resolve conflict and reduce stress- skills that are especially important with the holidays approaching. Having too little time and too much to do can result in frustration, which can lead to angry outbursts and extreme feelings of stress. Mark Miller, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and the Founder-Executive Director of Emerge from Anger, will provide tips to manage daily frustration and emotions that arise from anger issues. Miller will present practical ways to cope with family conflict, challenging parenting situations and the stress that abounds during the holiday season. One participant of a previous workshop commented, “I have three children; I needed this.” Another said that the material “hit right home!”
Zonta offers the free Life Forward workshop series for women on a monthly basis, with the exception of June, July and December. The workshops are presented in collaboration with Single Mothers Outreach, the Domestic Violence Program at Child & Family Center, Returning Women Veterans and Veterans’ Wives and the Los Angeles County Department of Child and Family Services serving foster mothers. KHTS AM-1220 is a co-sponsor of the series with Zonta. Workshops are organized by topics in which women express interest. A schedule of upcoming workshops is posted on www.scvzonta.org for individuals who are interested in a particular topic. Previous workshops in the series have covered a wide variety of topics, including managing money, exploring career options, navigating relationships, filing taxes and maintaining healthy habits. Whatever the topic, the aim of every workshop is to help participants believe in their unlimited power and potential, build the skills necessary to succeed, and be the powerful women they are meant to be.
Participants are not required to register in advance, but free childcare is available for those who register at least one week prior to the event with Single Mothers Outreach at (661) 288-0117. Spanish translation can be provided with advance request.
