The Boot is Back!
“Justice will be served
And the battle will rage
This big dog will fight
When you rattle his cage
And you’ll be sorry that you messed with
The U.S. of A.`Cause we`ll put a boot in your ass
It`s the American way”
When Toby Keith sang this song at one of the president’s inauguration parties, it didn’t dawn on me at the time how prophetic it was. Fast forward some five months later; I and millions of others are really glad President Trump pulled the boot out of mothballs to put to good use again.
For the last eight years we have had sand kicked in our faces with embarrassing humiliation. The food stamp president’s idealistic wimpyness of hollow threats, leading from behind (whatever the heck that means), gutting the military, refusal to identify Islamic terrorism, and looking the other way when concrete nuclear threats were staring us in the face are finally over. Oh yeah, I almost forgot about giving billions of dollars to an enemy who hates our guts (Iran) while turning our noses up at our only true ally in the region (Israel).
Now the boot is in high gear as we let the rest of world know we be back in the kick-ass business. Is it a macho thing, an American ego thing? No, it’s common sense strength President Reagan believed in and used effectively. I like what the vice-president said: “The era of strategic patience is over. President Trump has made it clear that the patience of the United States and our allies in this region has run out and we want to see change. We want to see North Korea abandon its reckless path of the development of nuclear weapons, and also its continual use and testing of ballistic missiles is unacceptable.”
Some call the Trump Administration “war hawks”; I call them common sense protectors of men, women and children. You cannot allow a delusional, mentally unstable, unelected dictator to keep testing the waters of nuclear attacks. A leader who forces an estimated 200,000 of his own people to live lives of utter wretchedness in internment camps should not be trusted with nuclear weapons to cause great harm to people who aren’t his own.
We cannot and will not allow a massive deadly threat to gain any more traction. Even if our coast is not yet threatened, what about Hawaii or Japan? The scariest of all is Seoul, South Korea, which is about as close to the tyrant as Santa Clarita is to Anaheim, with thousands of Americans and our troops there.
It’s a Messed Up – Screwed Up State of Affairs
It usually takes me parts of two days to write this sucker, but this week I’m cramming it into one day, as the boss (my wife) and I are heading to Louisville for a “community newspaper” conference. We will be hearing all about the state of our industry on a national scale (contrary to what you may think, our industry is doing rather well). But, the state of our state is what’s really cramming in my brain today.
The democrat/liberal mindset of California’s state legislature and governor are so far gone it’s a joke. Does the blame lay with them or the voters who put them there? And what does it say about those Democrat folks, some of whom are friends of mine, and even my youngest son! Who can convince these lost souls of the way of the common sense world? These loved ones aren’t rotten, just wrong.
If this wasn’t so serious it would be hysterically funny, how these people think the way things should be in our state. For instance, wasting billions of gallons of precious water to help fish, not from going extinct, but enabling them to get to the ocean without a struggle. Instead of funneling the water to farmers who produce crops we eat, it’s wasted on some sort of freaking trout. These fish huggers could be the ones attacking Trump supporters with pepper spray in Berkeley each weekend (now that takes guts).
Of course, the state’s libs don’t want anything to happen to illegal aliens who are blatant law breakers, so they insist on California breaking the law to shield them from undesired consequences. The socially concerned tax-and-spend loons care so much for the downtrodden they stick it to them with a new gas tax and increased registration fees. These Einsteins don’t realize they are putting even more of a financial burden on the folks they always claim they really want to help.
California has one of the highest poverty levels in the nation, not because of low wages per se, but because of the high cost living, particularly the cost of housing. If the libs care so much for the poor, why do they hike the cost of fuel and fees that cause the price of everything to go up? It makes zero sense for a state to bury its citizens and businesses with choking costs that smother our efforts to succeed, all because the Democrat elected officials in Sacramento need to feel good about themselves. These idealistic, socialistic fools are going to cause this not so great state to implode.
Oh, wait a minute, now the governor wants to spend upwards of $70 billion to build a super train that will take us from here to Moon-Beam land. The dude could be dead before it’s even finished, so why the concern? I know, I know, he wants to leave a liberal, idealistic legacy behind, even at the cost of us regular folks trying to survive here in Venezuela, I mean California.
Speaking of Liberals
Someone sent me this and I just can’t pass up sharing it with you:
- Back off and let those men who want to marry men, marry men.
B. Allow those women who want to marry women, marry women.
C. Allow those folks who want to abort their babies, abort their babies.
In three generations, there will be no more Democrats.
These are the 10 poorest cities in America (250,000 and over in population) and the percent of people below the poverty level in each:
1. Detroit, MI 32.5%
2. Buffalo, NY 29.9%
3. Cincinnati, OH 27.8%
4. Cleveland, OH 27.0%
5. Miami, FL 26.9%
6. St. Louis, MO 26.8%
7. El Paso, TX 26.4%
8. Milwaukee, WI 26.2%
9. Philadelphia, PA 25.1%
10. Newark, NJ 24.2%
What do these top 10 cities all have in common? All their mayors are Democrats. The last Republican mayor was in Cleveland in 1989. Most haven’t had a Republican Mayor in many years and good ole El Paso Texas has never had one.
So, what’s the deal? Why the proof in the pudding consequences of liberal, socialistic governing that just doesn’t work?
I’ll let Abraham Lincoln, from over a 150 years ago, give his take:
“You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.
You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.
You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down.
You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.
You cannot build character and courage by taking away people’s initiative and independence.
You cannot help people permanently by doing for them what they could and should do for themselves.”
