Are They Serious Right Now?
One of my favorite shows on Fox News is Justice with Judge Jeanine. I have the DVR set to record it every week, so imagine my surprise when I went to watch it last weekend and the show wasn’t recorded. At first I thought something was wrong with the DVR, but after further investigation I found out Judge Jeanine was suspended and the show was taken off the air (at least for a week).
Come on Fox, you’ve got to be kidding me! You’re caving to the politically correct nonsense that your network has valiantly fought against all these years. Really? Even CNN and MSNBC, with of all of the vile stuff their commentators say about the president of the United States, don’t get their underwear twisted enough to suspend folks. Yet when Jeanine Pirro makes a rather benign remark regarding a Muslim in Congress, Fox caves like a sinkhole!
Judge Jeanine: “Think about this: She’s not getting this anti-Israel sentiment doctrine from the Democrat Party. So if it’s not rooted in the party, where is she getting it from?” Think about it. Omar wears a hijab, which, according to the Quran 33:59, tells women to cover so they won’t get molested, is her adherence to this Islamic doctrine indicative of her adherence to Sharia law, which in itself is antithetical to the United States Constitution?”
That’s the comment she got in trouble for. What is the big freaking deal with what she said? Fox suspended Judge Jeanine for saying that? If Juan Williams, Mary Anne Marsh – or any other liberal that Fox News has on their shows – were to denigrate Christians the way CNN and MSNBC denigrates our president, would Fox suspend them? It’s hard to say, now that left-leaners seem to have taken over management of Fox News. And that, my friends, is scary.
Dark Agenda: The War to Destroy Christian America:
That’s the title of a new book by David Horowitz. I haven’t read it, but plan to. I find it interesting the author is Jewish, lending itself to intrigue of him defending Christianity. Marketing highlights include “Christians are targeted by secular leftists. They want to destroy Christianity in America and persecution against Christians is already happening and it can get far worse.”
The author claims that “left-wing activists, working in tandem with Democrats and radicals, are attempting to tear down our religious freedoms.”
“They are waging a war against Christians in court and the media. Even Jews and anyone who believes in God will be in danger if Christians are not protected.”
I Believe It:
Even before coming across the aforementioned book, I was planning on writing about coverage of the shooting in New Zealand (the tragedy many on the left are blaming President Trump for), but I digress. News coverage of the horrific event was heavy in all forms of media, causing condemnation and condolences from leaders far and wide, as it should have.
However, on the same weekend, dozens of Christians were slaughtered by Muslims in Nigeria to nary a headline or news coverage. The only coverage I saw was on Breitbart News, where they reported: “Fulani jihadists racked up a death toll of over 120 Christians over the past three weeks in central Nigeria, employing machetes and gunfire to slaughter men, women, and children, burning down over 140 houses, destroying property, and spreading terror.”
Really? This barbaric, sickening, deadly persecution of over 120 Christians wasn’t newsworthy compared to what happened in New Zealand? And if what happened to those poor souls was covered in the news with the same vigor as the killings in the Mosque, would the same amount of outrage have poured in?
Why wasn’t it as newsworthy, and why do I think that if it was, the condemnation wouldn’t have been as nearly as ferocious? Is this indicative of what the book I referred to earlier is getting at? By all accounts from what we’ve seen, since prayer was taken out of schools in 1963, we are on a path headed in the very direction the author of “Dark Agenda: The War to Destroy Christian America” is writing about.
In the bible, Jesus warns us about this stuff: “When the people of this world hate you, just remember they hated me first.” And “because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold.” Based on what’s going on these days, we shouldn’t be surprised!
As an afterthought, I’m cringing while thinking the Church we attend meets at a public school, with other churches doing the same in this valley. How long will it be until Governor Newsom, Attorney General Becerra and the ultra left California Legislature decide that a church meeting in a public school is not to be put up with?
Hands off Venezuela:
That’s what the signs read while protesters were demonstrating in Washington, D.C. I can understand folks not wanting military action used to rescue the Venezuelan people from their misery (I’m in favor of doing something rather drastic for them), but when I heard that the mess in that country is Trump’s fault, they lost me.
When some of the protesters were asked if they had a choice of Trump or Nicolás Maduro to be president of this country, and they answered that Maduro would be a better leader than Trump, I realized these were low information young people with low intelligence levels and quickly changed the channel.
New York City Dangerously Close To Bankruptcy. That was the headline a few weeks ago. Serious stuff right? One would think Mayor Bill de Blasio would launch into urgency mode to prevent this from happening, but no, he has more pressing things on his mind. MEATLESS MONDAYS!
“The Meatless Mondays program is aimed at improving student health and the city’s environmental impact” the mayor proclaimed. He went on to say, “Cutting back on meat a little will improve New Yorkers’ health and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. We’re expanding Meatless Mondays to all public schools to keep our lunch and planet green for generations to come.”
You’ve got to love Socialists. With a financial emergency staring him in the face, the mayor goes for what makes him feel good, not what’s really important.
Quotes & Quips:
“Absolutely not. … One is human the other is not” (Rep. Ilhan Omar when asked “Do you think President Obama is the same as President Trump?”)
‘Trump Is Chickenshi**y, Bullshi**y, Dictatorial, Racist’ (Stephen King, author)
“We have to confront the fact that there is a rising white supremacy, anti-immigrant, anti-Muslim attitude. The president uses language often that is very similar.” (Sen. Tim Kaine)
“You asked for God to change people’s hearts … I have a question for you. Does God need to change people’s language? And I ask you that because this killer apparently in a screed, some people call it a manifesto, said he is a supporter of President Trump as a symbol of white identity.” (CNN anchor John Berman)
*All of these quotes are typical asinine rubbish; the president gets criticized and blamed for everything. I’m surprised he hasn’t taken heat for the college admission scandal. Wait, I heard he did.
“And so, I think, that, you know, we’ve kind of lost the art of conversation. But, you have to — we have to learn to, like, really disarm ourselves in these conversations first of all, because we approach them with so much hostility and, like, they get mad and we get mad and all of these things and — and we have — so, part of it is, like, emotional work. And — and the second part of it is intention, like, what are you trying to get out of this conversation?” (Alexandria Ocasio Cortez)
*She said “we’ve kind of lost the art of conversation.” It seems like she never learned the art of conversation. (Me)
“Snows are less frequent and less deep. They do not often lay, below the mountains, more than one, two or three days, and very rarely a week. They are remembered to have been formerly frequent, deep and of long continuance. The elderly inform me the earth used to be covered with snow about three months in every year. The rivers, which then seldom failed to freeze over in the course of the winter, scarcely ever do now. This change has produced an unfortunate fluctuation between heat and cold in the spring of the year which is very fatal to fruits. I remember that when I was a small boy, say 60 years ago, snows were frequent and deep in every winter.” (Thomas Jefferson in 1799)
*Is it just me, or didn’t the industrial revolution – with all of its arguable effects on the climate – start many years after 1799? (Me)
Letter to the Ranter:
The following comments are in reference to Gary Horton’s March 14, 2019 editorial in the Signal Newspaper. Use this information as you see fit. I haven’t sent this to the Signal preferring to support your publication.
This letter is in response to Gary Horton’s March 14, 2019 editorial entitled, “Anti-Environmental Conspiracy Theories Are a Pile of Trash.” Upon reading Mr. Horton’s editorial I couldn’t help but feel a flashback to the 2016 Academy Awards and being lectured by Leonardo DiCaprio about doing everything I can to fight climate change. Mr. DiCaprio’s carbon footprint for 2016 was estimated by the Daily Mail to be 418 tons of CO2 compared to the average American carbon footprint of 19 tons of CO2 per year.
Mr. Horton takes a similar high road to lecture his readers about environmental stewardship while his company is a major source of pollution in our valley. Mr. Horton’s landscape company deploys numerous leaf blowers, lawn trimmers, hedge trimmers, and chain saws that are powered by two stoke engines. Two stroke engines are a major source of airborne pollution. According to the California EPA, a leaf blower powered by a two stroke engine, operated for one hour would produce the equivalent pollution of driving a Toyota Camry 1,100 miles. So one of Mr. Horton’s leaf blowers operated for about 10 hours would produce the same environmental impact of operating a Toyota Camry for about a year. If Mr. Horton truly cared about the environment he would replace his two stroke powered equipment with battery powered equipment that could easily be recharged by solar power. Keep up the good work.
