I Swore I Wouldn’t:
When the Trump tweet fiasco exploded all over media outlets like a huge bomb shell of a disaster, I swore to myself I wouldn’t touch it in this space. I didn’t want to waste time or space on something I thought would blow over in a day, but as I start my weekly routine with this aspect of the job, “tweet gate” is out of control.
This thing is overflowing the brim of political correctness with such poppycock it’s sickening. Those four women have managed to control almost one hundred percent of the media’s narrative this week with such meaningless rubbish that it is almost unlistenable.
How Trump’s tweeted words were turned into a racist firestorm, I don’t get. I’ll tell you what though, if those women and their far left brethren want to get into interpretation of words, take a listen to what they’ve said about America, Israel and Al Qaeda, to name a few. Their words were hurtful to Jews, families of loved ones who have died as a result of terrorist groups, and were downright unpatriotic.
The President’s tweets were snowflake in nature compared to the AOC gang’s words and to be honest I’d tell them something worse then to go back to where they came from! Another thing for the ladies; get over it and concentrate on things that really matter.
As I was half paying attention to a show on Fox News the other day, the commentator said something about “the Speaker of the House, the person who is third in line to become president of the United States should know better…” I froze in my tracks at the thought of “Nervous Nancy” becoming our president with the possibility sending sub-freezing chills throughout my blood stream.
My next thought was President Trump and Vice President Pence should never be in the same vicinity from now on, because if, God forbid, some tragedy were to beset them, the unthinkable would occur. In your worst nightmare can you imagine Nancy Pelosi as our president?!
These are some of her gems from the past:
“Unemployment benefits are creating jobs faster than practically any other program.”
“Hamas is a humanitarian organization.”
“But we have to pass the bill so you can find out what is in it, away from the fog of the controversy.”
“Our view of the law is that it – if somebody is here without sufficient documentation, which is not reason for deportation.”
“You cannot cut your way to deficit reduction.”
“It’s almost a false argument to say we have a spending problem.”
“Civilization as we know it today would be in jeopardy if the Republicans win the Senate.”
“Everybody will have lower rates, better quality, and better access.”
“I don’t remember saying that everybody in the country would have a lower premium.”
The preceding quotes show her true political acumen which could make us beg for Obama to come back. For the sake of political correctness I’ll ignore the fact that she’s 79 years old (it’s beginning to show in my opinion), but most of all I’ll try and put this potential disaster out of my head, just like I’m doing with the thought of Kamala Harris becoming president!
Speaking of Nightmares:
I’m hearing more and more conservative pundits predicting Kamala Harris will be the Democratic nominee to run against Trump. My biggest fear if this scenario were to come true would be the avalanche of identity political marketing that would engulf low information voters.
Can’t you hear it now coming from “the squad,” Nancy Pelosi, Mrs. Bill Clinton and even Harris herself, “We need a women and a person of color to lead this nation.” The ads will be coming at us from all directions exclaiming a woman of color is much better suited to be this country’s president than the evil Trump.
Of course the Dem’s message probably won’t bother to address facts contrasting policy stances of the two candidates. Rather, you can bet the message will be strong with playing on voter’s emotions, as such was the case in the marketing strategy utilized by Barack Obama’s and Mrs. Bill Clinton’s campaigns.
I’m reminded of the lady the day after Obama’s victory in 2008 who exclaimed to the camera, “Now I won’t have to worry about my mortgage and my cell phone!” That type of thinking will probably be used as a campaign strategy and will be the Dem’s subliminal message to low information folks to garner their votes. If it works like it did for Obama, Kamala Harris will be sitting pretty in the White House come 2021 and the socialistic mud will start hitting the fan shortly after that!

Donald Trump did not mention race once in these tweets. Trump did not mention race. Trump did not even mention color! Trump did not mention people of color! Trump did not tell anybody to go home! Letters to the Ranter:
This is in response to TP’s letter to you that commented on my Letter to the Editor, The Signal , 7/6/19. Even though I share Gary Horton’s last name (via my husband), we are not related. In fact I have never met Gary Horton, though I do often read his Opinion pieces and almost always agree with him. As for TP’s comments on Doonesbury, that award winning strip has been in existence almost 50 years. I believe the reason it has been around so long and has won so much recognition is that even though it espouses mostly liberal/progressive views, it speaks truth to power, regardless of who wields that power or party affiliation. Can TP say the same for his political cartoons?
Let me also say that I strongly doubt the response that I received from The Signal that their choice of cartoons for the comics page is not influenced by politics. Thanks for letting me clarify. Linda Horton
I work 2 jobs and still cannot afford to pay the astronomically high southern California rent. I am homeless, but do not qualify for free health care. I am a citizen of this country and am furious that our Governor has signed a bill allowing free health care for lawbreaking individuals. I assume this includes free meds? Why not provide free transportation as well, they need a way to get to their free doctor, right. Why stop there, why not free clothing.
No wonder so many people want to come to America. There is no downside. They get deported, then just come back. And while they’re here they get a free ride. This just encourages more illegal’s to skirt the law and live here for free. Hank
