Déjà Vu All Over Again:
The opinion piece headline in the LA Times read, “Undoing the great mistake of 2016.” As I begin reading, a déjà vu type feeling crept over me that I couldn’t quite put a finger on; then it hit me, it was eerily similar to the columns in The Signal newspaper that have been written by two Trump hating lefties over the last couple of years.
The LA Times articles states, “Immigrants are being demonized and detained; homelessness is reaching crisis levels in big cities; and craven, self interested lawmakers seem paralyzed, unable to act on these and other policy issues, including the terribly urgent matter of climate change, which threatens our very existence.” This was written in the context of approaching the 2020 election with the intimation this stuff is all Trump’s fault. Really, which side of the isle is paralyzed with “self interested lawmakers?” The Dems are the ones paralyzed with an impeach Trump obsession without getting much of a damn thing done for the rest of us. And if climate change is threatening our very existence (which is very much in question), it seems to me Trump would be better dealing with the great polluters of the world then one of the mamby, pamby candidates we’re seeing now (see Obama’s time in office).
“The time has come to undo the great mistake of 2016 and drive Trump out of office at the ballot box.” I concur with the ballot box thing, how about sharing this with Adam Schiff and Nancy Pelosi before they drag us through the mud of impeachment. Let the people decide, not sore loser politicians who are running amok.
“It is time to pull our country out of the illiberal abyss into which it is sinking and put it on a path toward reason and fairness and empathy and constructive engagement with the world.” Not sure exactly what that means. I thought, “Oh, they mean like Obama did that made us the laughing stock of the world?” His “lead from behind,” the empty threat of “not crossing the red line” and the billions in cash he gave to Iran to continue their American and Israeli destructive ways? Yeah. Let’s go back to that stuff.
“Voters need to keep their eyes on the prize: defeating Trump state by state, issue by issue, state by state and vote by vote.” Hey, I’m all for the “issue by issue” debate, this is something that has been sorely missing in Trump hating opinion columns, by talking heads in the media and glaringly in the Dem debates thus far. Instead it’s all personality conflict stuff sending his detractors into immature tizzies.
“More than 60 million Americans consciously choose this president over his opponent four years ago. And many voters remain entranced-hoodwinked, in our view-by his blunt, cocky, overpromised style.” These guys are brilliant. We did consciously vote for the guy, and with enthusiasm because we believed he would change America; not with the empty rhetoric of some “hope and change” crap, but with common sense, Reagan-like details of issues he would push to implement.
Hoodwinked You Say?
We Trump voters aren’t “hood winked,” and his “style” is anything but “overpromised;” in fact, we are impressed at what he said he would do, what he has done and what has resulted from what’s been done! The list is long, and includes business regulation reduction, tax reform, a stock market that took off the day after he was elected, GDP growth that wasn’t even noticeable during Obama’s days, record high oil production, low unemployment for all, including women and people of color, a surge in manufacturing and millions of people off of government assist programs, including food stamps.
Has everything the president accomplished gone perfectly and are all things going well? Of course not. But those editorial dudes or dudettes at the LA Times should look in some other direction for what they think the millions of Americans who support Trump and what he has done for our nation are thinking, because it ain’t what they’re thinking on whatever floor of the LA Times they work on. Just like it isn’t for the gentlemen who contribute to The Signal with their Trump derangement thoughts.
As I tepidly tread into this portion of the rant I want to clarify that I feel ALL people in this country should be treated with respect and dignity without any sort of mistreatment or discrimination based on anything having to do with their gender, their desired gender or lifestyle. All should be treated equally and I judge no one as long as they are law abiding and treat others well.
Many times in this space I have asked for help for clarification on certain matters and I could use some help with understanding this.
Recent headlines I’ve come across:
“Transgender Cyclist Rachel McKinnon Keeps Smashing Women’s Records”
“Transgender Activists Force Menstrual Products Brand to Remove Woman Symbol from Packaging”
The thing with the cyclist and other transgender athletes (former males) who compete in women’s sports is just plain irritating and totally unfair to the women who work so hard at their sport only to be out-done by someone, who by God’s design, have the upper hand physically. It’s a selfish and cheap way to gain glory.
Aside from the athlete aspect, my puzzlement concerns the need these folks have to forcibly insert themselves into mainstream culture with the pollution of political correctness that is slowly but surely gaining a choke hold on the America way of life we’ve had for many years. I mean, come on, what does the symbol of a woman on a menstrual product package have to do with the rights of a transgender individual? How does that symbol offend or discriminate against anything or anybody?!
The headline that really got my attention regarding the transgender issue read, “More Parents are Thinking Outside the Gender Box.” Now look, if an adult parent considers the need, and even acts on gender change (although it seems to me self control would be advised until the child is old enough to understand what Mommy or Daddy are doing, as it could cause emotional problems), that’s one thing, but to sway or pursue gender neutrality for their young son or daughter is just wrong to me.
Why do parents who are gender conflicted themselves feel the need to mold their kids or even allow for the possibility of gender choice while they are so young? Can’t they be raised as they were born, and when they come of age it can become their choice?
I don’t understand why some parents don’t want their baby to be specified on the birth certificate as male or female. Why are some gender conflicted parents raising their children in a “gender creative” manner or what they call a “gender expansive” way? Come on, let boys be boys and girls be girls, and if they become conflicted with it later on in life help them with all the resources available.
It should come as no surprise California allows parents to obtain gender-neutral birth certificates. Come on give me a freaking break, when a baby is born it’s really easy to tell what gender they are and the reason to not declare that is very confusing to me.
Many of these same parents raise their kids not allowing them to use gender identifying words; instead they have to use they, them and theirs pronouns. I thought bad potty training could mess up a kid later in life, but this?
Please help me to understand all of this stuff, I’m really confused!
