This past weekend, we hosted our quarterly membership pickup party. Many of our guests have requested some of my recipes that have not yet been added to my blog, including my strawberry black peppercorn Cabernet cobbler. Instead of having ice cream, It tastes amazing if you eat it with a little bit of brie or chèvre. I pair this with our 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon. Today, I’m starting with dessert, versus the salad or lunch course. The first time I prepared this dish at the winery was the night we premiered this vintage at Ladies’ Night in 2014. It is another favorite of mine. It pairs so well with a spinach salad that has fresh strawberries, turkey bacon and red onions with a tasty balsamic vinaigrette.
For my salad course, I prepared a mixed green salad that had Romaine, spinach, cabbage, carrots, celery and cucumbers. I offered two dressings; the first one, which was a wasabi ranch that paired with our 2015 Muscat and the other was a balsamic vinaigrette that paired well with our 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon.
I also prepared for the pick up, a green curry Thai chicken dish, which paired extremely well with our 2015 Muscat, plus meatballs that were steamed with fresh rosemary from the garden and our 2010 Syrah. To accompany the chicken and the meatballs, I prepared a pasta salad with Asian vegetables.
I also prepared two different types of cupcakes; vanilla bean butterscotch which paired with our 2015 Muscat and a triple chocolate that paired well with either of the red wines (2011 Cabernet or 2010 Syrah).
This month, we will be featuring those wines and many others this month on our tasting sheet.
