Close Out 2018 with Thursdays@Newhall

The City of Santa Clarita’s Thursdays@Newhall series, presented by Valencia Auto Center, continues in December and closes out 2018 with events inside The MAIN in Old Town Newhall. Thursdays@Newhall is an ongoing opportunity for residents of Santa Clarita to attend free shows, concerts and special events throughout the year.

The slate begins December 6 at The MAIN (24266 Main Street), when 10 performers will take the stage for 10 minutes each and share their comedy, storytelling, short films and music at the monthly 10 by 10 show from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Long-time Santa Clarita local Steve Messick and his accordion will take you on an international musical journey with a vibrant and entertaining repertoire you won’t want to miss! Performances this month also include storytelling with Michael Dougherty, Vicki Juditz and Bart Richards; comedy from Lang Parker and Richard Meyer; comedy and juggling by Ivan Pecel; music with Tracy Lee Nelson and John Bergstrom; and magic by Glenndalf.

On December 13, local musicians will take the stage for Note by Note inside The MAIN from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Note by Note is a free musical showcase delighting audiences with a variety of genres. Bands, duos and soloists will perform a wide range of styles, including rock, folk, Celtic, Americana, blues, jazz, country, experimental, western and more. Featured performers in December include Mike Fleming, Abby Lyons, Ric Taylor and Sarah Mee Ran Cave. Starting Tuesday, December 11, the art gallery at The MAIN will host a new show featuring work from several talented artists. The exhibit is a group show and will showcase various mediums of art from more than 10 artists. This month’s artist reception will be moved from Thursday to Saturday due to the holidays. The free art reception will be on Saturday, December 15, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at The MAIN. Guests will enjoy light snacks and music, and have a chance to meet the artists.
