Last week we featured our Reyes Winery 2009 estate grown merlot, and in this issue, the Wine of the Week is our 2010 merlot.
The Reyes Winery 2010 merlot has less fruitiness and more notes of cinnamon. Depending upon the age of the oak and the day you pick the fruit, the weather can alter the flavor and the aromas. This wine won a silver medal at the 2012 Orange County Fair, 2012 Long Beach Grand Cru, 2012 Sunset International Wine Competition and 2012 San Diego County Fair Commercial Wine Competition. It pairs well with pork chops with a cinnamon jerk rub, Toscano cheese dusted in cinnamon or a flourless chocolate cake. We will be featuring this for our pig roast this year.
Social media has a hashtag for it, #MerlotMe. Join the movement and drink lots of Reyes Winery Merlot. Take a photo of you, your wine and your wine glass and post it with #MerlotMe and #Reyeswinery.
