Erika Elizabeth Faulkner 1961-2016

Erika Elizabeth Faulkner, 54, passed away on the night of February 8, 2016 at Hi-Desert Memorial Hospital. On April 13, 1961 she was born to Carl and Veronika Moessner and raised by Veronika and Ken Thomas. Erika graduated from University of California, Los Angeles with a master’s degree in education and a bachelor’s degree in mathematics. She worked for many years as a high school math teacher at Bell High School and John C. Fremont High School in Los Angeles. She was nominated for the prestigious Jaime Escalante Award as a math teacher. In her early 20s, she proudly dedicated a lot of time to convert to Catholicism, and was adamant about raising her daughters Catholic. She was not afraid of saying what was on her mind, and her personality worked as a magnet to the people around her. Erika was loving and giving and she will be remembered for her contagious laugh. She enjoyed garage sale and thrift store shopping, and enthusiastically grew her various collections. Erika was loved by everyone who had the pleasure of getting to know her. She is survived by her boyfriend, John Garner; her daughters, Morgan Faulkner and Shaun Faulkner; and her four-legged sidekick, Troubles. She was predeceased by her mother, Veronika Thomas; her father, Carl Moessner; her stepfather, Ken Thomas; and her brothers, Paul and Brad Moessner. A memorial service will be held for Erika Faulkner on February 19, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Eternal Valley Memorial Park, 23287 Sierra Hwy, Newhall, California 91321.
