Walter Charles Miles 1914-2016

| Obituaries | April 21, 2016

Walter Charles Miles passed peacefully from his 102 years of a life well-lived on April 11, 2016 at his home in Valencia, California. He was a beloved father to Ted and Ken, a doting grandfather to Kenny and Cassie, the fond brother of Sarah and an adoring great-grandfather to Kayler. Walter was born in Omaha, Nebraska on March 17, 1914, St. Patrick’s Day. He worked in the seafood business with his father, Charles, until the Great Depression. Work then took him to California, where he thrived in the garment and aircraft industries, and where he met his loving wife of 51 years, Vernie, who predeceased him in 1995. Walter loved cars, so his interest switched to the automotive industry, working for several car dealerships until he retired at the young age of 72! Family, friends and colleagues remember a man filled with generosity, intelligence and humor. We will miss his stories, which spanned a full century, and how he watched our country grow after the birth of industrialization. A public viewing will be held on Sunday, April 24 from 1:00-4:00 p.m., followed by graveside services on Monday, April 25, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Eternal Valley Memorial Park, 23287 Sierra Highway, Newhall, California 91321.
