Business of the Week – Agua Dulce Vineyards

| SC Living | December 19, 2014

Agua Dulce Winery is a family getaway offering wine blending classes, guided vineyard and cellar tours, and even the rare barrel tasting, complete with an al fresco picnic lunch. All of this occurs amidst the lush 100 acres of Los Angeles County’s largest vineyard and winery.

Agua Dulce Winery has become the much talked about local destination for wine enthusiasts throughout Southern California. Located in Santa Clarita Valley, a mere 25 miles northeast of the San Fernando Valley, Agua Dulce Winery is the centerpiece of the prestigious Sierra Pelona Valley Wine Appellation, and has earned more than 150 national and international wine awards.

Agua Dulce Winery appeals to every level of wine enthusiast, beginning with the novice who wants to learn more about wine and wine tasting, all the way up to the “cork dork,” who has developed a sophisticated palette and is looking for that rare gem to share with his or her wine group. Visitors are offered the rare opportunity to tour the state-of-the-art cellar, which houses over 2,000 French, Hungarian and American Oak barrels.

In addition to daily wine tasting, Agua Dulce Winery offers guests the opportunity to stroll through the vineyard and not only see the property in bloom, but actually touch the vines. In May, the vineyard’s small, immature grape clusters are just about to bloom, after which, they develop over the next 120 days into the large, sumptuous, seven-pound clumps of navy blue, purple and green grapes, which are harvested in the fall, creating wine. This vine-to-wine facility produces Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Zinfandel, Syrah, Sangiovese and Chardonnay.

Additionally, Agua Dulce Winery is producing some of the more desired blends, such as its Fantasma Roja and Robusto Roja, both of which are based on the Chianti Classic grape of Sangiovese.
