In his last year at Golden Valley High School, Jalin Lewis will surely be missed next football season. Last week he caught two passes for 27 yards and a touchdown, rushed for 39 yards on six carries, and snagged two interceptions, including one to seal the Grizzlies’ 20-18 victory over Mira Costa in the CIF-Southern Section Division 6 semifinals. The win puts Golden Valley into the championship round, the first in school history, against Bishop Diego. The Cardinals ended Saugus’ playoff run last week with a 45-27 win over the Centurions. Golden Valley will host the championship match at Canyon High School on December 1 at 7 p.m.
“Jalin is one of the best players I have ever coached,” said Golden Valley football coach Daniel Kelley. “He is such a competitor, and he supports his teammates at all times. His natural ability to play the game of football is one of the main reasons we have had so much success this season.”
