Betitos

| | March 21, 2013

I recently had lunch with my sister at Betito’s Mexican Restaurant in Canyon Country. Often overlooked, this small Santa Clarita gem has been around since we were kids, and is the perfect spot to visit when looking to satisfy your burrito cravings.

Upon arrival, we were seated promptly and the server brought over chips and salsa. The chips were warm and fresh and the salsa was perfect – not too spicy! They offer a number of lunch specials under $10 consisting of the typical Mexican fare – tacos, enchiladas, burritos, etc. All are served with rice and beans. There is also a full menu available, if you are feeling adventurous.

I ordered the pork burrito lunch special and my sister ordered a side salad with a bowl of Albondigas (Spanish for meatballs) soup. Our server was very friendly and said she would inform the chef we were in a bit of a hurry – since we were both on our lunch breaks. Our food was brought out quickly and it was all delicious. The burrito was covered in a tangy chile verde sauce and was HUGE. It was served with a hearty portion of rice and beans and I had more than enough left over to enjoy for dinner that night. My sister’s salad was fresh and crisp and the bowl of soup was piping hot. What it lacked in meatballs (there were only 2 or 3) it made up in hearty vegetables.

We were in and out in less than an hour with full stomachs and plenty of leftovers. We’ll definitely be coming back to Betito’s, hopefully for dinner next time so we can partake in their delicious margaritas.

Betito’s is located at 18902 Soledad Canyon Road in Canyon Country. For hours and information call 661-251-0557.
